American Goldfinch and Thistle
Did you know the American Goldfinch often perch on the thistle plant in order to feed on its seeds in mid to later Summer? The contrast of yellow, pink and blue colors in the sky is beautiful. In Colorado, where Thistle grows wild and plentiful, the American Goldfinch flock to these plants and the color of yellow and purple cover the hillsides. It's a magnificent thing to witness and one worth taking the time out of your busy day.
Sadly, birds and wildlands around the world are at risk due to overpopulation and development, climate change, and agriculture, and we need to make sure that we protect these sacred places and beings.
Wear this hat to show your support and when someone asks about the art, tell them about the American Goldfinch and how we can protect them.
